Injectables and dermal fillers are an injectable treatment that restore areas of lost tissue mass and minimize fine lines, creases, and wrinkles. Injection needles are very thin and most patients don’t feel any pain or discomfort during treatment. The actual treatment time is fairly short and you will see a difference right away. The skin may be swollen or red for a few days after the injection but you can expect to see full results within a couple of weeks as the filler settles.
Some dermal fillers are made with hyaluronic acid which plumps up the skin instantly. Others contain compounds that trigger collagen production while plumping up the skin. These can be especially beneficial to patients who want longer-lasting results to restore their youthful appearance. Dermal fillers have virtually no downtime and you can enjoy results for several months or a couple of years, depending on the filler.
Redness and swelling may occur immediately post procedure and will resolve within a few hours. Depending on your treatment some bruising may also occur which can take up to 5-7 days to disappear.
There are no pre-treatment requirements. However, post treatment recommendations include the following: Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours post treatment. Do no massage or rub treated area for 24 hours post treatment. Avoid lying face down for 4 hours post treatment. You may experience general cold and flu symptoms such as a mild headache post anti-wrinkle treatment – if this occurs, Tylenol may be taken for relief.
